This week we continue to look at one race from the UK and cast our eye over it for you in more detail here on The Cheeky Punts
This weeks featured race is:
Coral Pendil Novices Chase: 2m4f110y
How the betting looks
We have a really intriguing looking affair here with just the 5 runners but very little to split the top 4, only really Goa Lil is the big price here and whilst he is a relatively smart type, this looks a real step up and that gulf in class is likely to show. 40/1 in a 5 runner race is generally a good guide that this is very difficult to see Goa Lil being in the mix.
At the other end of the market Pic D'Orhy has proved friendless in the market and has drifted Saturday morning. The form of the maestro Paul Nicholls does remain a bit of a concern but I'm sure they will hoping they can put this right with Cheltenham, and some big runners, just around the corner. The one who could well go off favourite now is Minella Drama for the dream team of Hughes and McCain. My own view on this pairing is pretty well known for regular followers, the strike rate of the pair this season has been very good but he will need a big run here under a penalty for a win in a Grade 2 last time out
Millers Bank has unseated in his last two after winning on his chase debut so there is possibly a question mark over his jumping, my main concern would be when pushed by one of the other principles that fragility may come out again but if he does get a clear run, he could well be in the mix.
That leaves my pick of pack Fantastic Lady who is right down at the foot of the weights with a 7lb mares allowance. She looked comfortable enough when switching to fences with wins at Warwick then Bangor so the Nicky Henderson trained filly looks a good price here at around 10/3. It is an open looking race and a really tricky one to call as we see the big guns in Nicholls, McCain and Henderson all represented so it should be a great one to watch
