This week we continue our new feature as we look at one race from the UK and cast our eye over it for you in more detail after highlighting an 8/1 winner last week with Eldorado Allen against not just one but two short priced favourites in the race
This weeks featured race is:
3.50 Haydock - Albert Bartlett Prestige Novices Hurdle
Class 1, Grade 2 over 3m58y
How the betting looks
This one looks to be all about the favourite Hillcrest who will be looking to make amends having been brought down last time out at Cheltenham and its easy to see why he's the favourite. With 4 wins from 6, the only other blot on the record being a second back on his debut. Running in the famous colours of the late, great Trevor Hemmings he probably rightly heads the field but, he is a very short price. Green Book has proved he can stay out the 3m having won a Grade3 at Sandown but this looks a bit tougher for the in-form Venetia Williams yard. High Stakes has the champ Hughes onboard but he looks to have a bit to find for this although the heavy forecast going may be a slight benefit. 3m looks more his trip so he could well be competitive here.
Anglers Craig has run well last time out on his first start over hurdles but this looks a step up and the ground doesn't seem to be in his favour whilst Crystal Glory has a couple of wins on the soft but is a bit unproven at this trip. Readysteadybeau ranks the outsider of the race but could have place chances at a big price having won here at Haydock back in December and then following up with a 2nd at Wetherby, this is however a significantly tougher task
That leaves just the one which I think could be worth an each way punt, Scipion. He has run well in defeat so could be worth siding with here, the return to 3m looks like it should suit and at 13/2 he could be worth a small each way bet and maybe a f/c bet with the favourite
