Hot on the heels of last weeks fantastic Grand National, won by Scotlands own Corach Rambler, this Saturday sees the Scottish Grand National coming from Ayr
The big one for the day north of the border comes at 3.35pm and unlike the mamouth 39 who went to post at Aintree, we have a still very competitive field of 23 due to line up here
The market is headed by Monbeg Genius who looks potentially still well handicapped for the Jonjo O'Neil's. The eye catching form here is a very good 3rd at Cheltenham in a race won by none other than Corach Rambler and he's likely to have plenty of support here today and expect that Cheltenham run to be mentioned a few times on the day!
Last years runner up Kitty's Light is another high in the shortlist and is a proven stayer for trainer Christian Williams, who also saddled the winner that day (Win My Wings). Conditions should suit and I'd expect another strong showing here.
Your own Story is another that should stay this 4 miler and could give Derek Fox & trainer Lucinda Russell a memorable double to follow on from the National last week!
There may well be a bit of rain on the day & that could help Empire Steel but it probably wouldn't be as great for Lord Accord who looks up against it which is reflected in the price. Flash Cologne for the maestro Paul Nicholls looks to have a bit to find here but one who may be interesting is the Irish raider Malina Girl but as the only 6YO in the race this may be coming a touch too early
At bigger prices, Champion jockey Brian Hughes is on Famous Bridge and is actually on a 3-timer and there may be still more to come. At around 20/1 he looks a potential each way play although there's a risk in if he'll stay the trip
Monbeg Genius - win
Famous Bridge - e/w+
