The first Saturday NAP of 2023 could only manage 2nd place but hopefully that's not a sign for the year! So as ever our man has his best bet of the day as we look to get 2023 off the mark with a winner
After a frustrating 2nd last week (and a non runner the week before!) I'm looking to get off the mark for the year at the third time of asking and I am going to put my faith in the old maestro Paul Nicholls in a competitive looking Novice Hurdle for the 2.25pm at Warwick
Knowsley Road has looked sharp completing a hattrick of wins at Chepstow and has only been beaten once when finishing 2nd on heavy ground in a bumper at Exeter. He will come on again for those Chepstow wins though and the Nicholls yard have been in good form of late but there are a number of dangers here.
Givega is 2 from 2 over hurdles and looks a strong challenger from the Moores however no 7YO has won this since 2006 so he whilst he is relatively unexposed he may find himself in deeper waters here. The chief challenge may come from the Skeltons with Grey Dawning who is another with seeking a three timer over hurdles but the lack of form from the yard of late is concerning.
Ginnys Destiny, Snake Roll and even the two relative outsiders in Moon Hunter and Mexico could also quite easily figure so this is by no means an easy prospect for our charge but I am feeling confident of our charge and getting us back to that winners circles this week
Good Luck and don't forget you can check out more from me plus all our other racing features here on The Cheeky Punts this weekend
Good Luck whatever you are backing and remember, always gamble responsibly
