The Hot Picks: New Years

Updated: Dec 30, 2022

We have games across the weekend and after a few of our recent winners, we have the latest hotpicks for you here on The Cheeky Punts

And we are going to go for a full weekend sweat with one game from each day this bank holiday weekend! We start on Saturday with high flying Newcastle who have been superb at home this season and take on a Leeds side who looked poor in defeat against Man City midweek. Injuries, tiredness and a lack of belief probably summed up Leeds that day but the same certainly can't be said of the Toon army who look certain to end the year firmly in the top 4!

On to Sunday when the EFL games begin and I am going to go here for Luton away at Huddersfield. I was at the Preston game where Huddersfield came from behind to win but they looked a poor team and its easy to see why they are struggling down the bottom end of the table (which says a lot about how bad Preston were but thats for another day!) Luton once again look like punching above their weight and are in the chasing bunch of 10 teams or so with a realistic chance of a playoff spot. They have also done well on their travels this season, with the 4th best record in the league, so I think they will be too good for Huddersfield here

Hoping to bring us home on Bank Holiday Monday I'm sticking with the Championship and a bit of an eye catcher of late in West Brom. They have been in good form recently and could well be the one to watch in 2023 with a playoff push so I think they look good value here for the win. Reading are a tad unpredictable but they have been pretty poor on the road picking up just 10 points (from 12 games) with only Huddersfield having a worse record

Hopefully we can finish the year on a high and land another Hotpicks treble!
