The Hot Picks: 5th Aug
The EFL is back so we're going to look to kick off the hot picks with a tasty treble with 3 teams we fancy to do very well this season
Saturday's Selections

The Verdict
In the Championship Middlesboro are my tip for promotion & I think they can start off the season with what I suspect will be the first of plenty of home wins. Only Burnley & Sheff Utd (who both sealed promotion) had a better home record than Boro last season and I fully expect them to be solid again at the Riverside. Visitors Millwall will be looking to a promotion push again themselves but the Championship looks extremely tough this season & this is no easy opener
In League One another team I think could be in for a good season is Portsmouth. They've fallen short in recent years but I've been impressed with what John Mousinho managed last season. Pompey looked a lot more solid and have been active in the transfer market so I think they look a good bet for promotion. They open at Fratton Park against Bristol Rovers, a team who finished last season winless in 7 games & I can't see them finishing much higher than last season's 17th. With that in mind the 10/11 on offer here could be very generous for a Pompey win
In League Two & I'm going for one of the newcomers but no, it's not Wrexham. I think they'll do well enough but may find life more difficult than expected and Notts County look much better value. They have recruited well & can count themselves very unlucky to have run in to the Welsh side who they pushed every inch of the way in a thrilling National League last year. They open up against a team I think may well be going the other way in Sutton. There will be high hopes from the County fans & I think they can mark their return to the EFL with a win here
Good Luck & let's hope we're celebrating a hotpicks win for the start of the EFL season
