#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 31st Dec

Updated: Dec 31, 2022

As usual we have our weekend preview first up with action for New Years Eve coming from Newbury, Warwick and Uttoxeter plus the all weather action from Lingfield

Our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action for you on The Cheeky Punts plus don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well as the latest across all our racing pages.

As today is also the final of our £100 Challenge my selections for the day are the ones that I am backing in the hope of sealing the victory so here are my thoughts or you can find the full list of my selections for the Challenge here

Starting at Newbury I have gone for a 4 horse place acca (which also includes my Saturday NAP) but kicking us off early I've gone for a bit of a cheeky punt on Midnight Ridge in the 12.10pm. Grivetana is a very short priced favourite here for the maestro Paul Nicholls and I think she takes all the beating however my selection looks to have a good each way chance at around 11/1 with 4 places on offer with Skybet

In the next at 12.40 we have another short favourite with Jet Powered odds on but that does open this up as a 'bad each way' race for the bookies so the value here for me is a place bet on Palace Boy. Trainer Fergal O'Brien hasn't been firing of late but in a race where it may be just playing for minor honours, I think he's worth a risk on here

The 3rd horse in my place acca is one I actually fancy for the win in Laskalin in the 2.25pm for the super combo of Charlie Deutsch riding for Venetia Williams. He's up 5 for a win LTO but we know Williams loves a stayer on the ground looks like it should very much suit her horses style here

Away from Newbury I've also gone for a bit of a big priced double with Walk in Clover in the 2.53pm at Uttoxeter and Masaccio in the last (3.20pm) at Warwick. Walk in Clover has drifted a lot and has gone out to 20/1 at time of writing but I'm hoping this should just add to my winnings pot! The Skelton runner could well outrun those odds but at that price is now realistically an each way punt.

Masaccio runs in the bumper so could be anything but I did like the 2nd LTO and I think there could be a bit of promise there and the softer ground today could well work in his favour. Priced around 7/1 that could make a decent each way double now on the two

I'll be back tomorrow (later in the day!) with a few selections for New Years Day but from me & all the team here at The Cheeky Punts have a great New Years Eve whatever you are doing today/tonight

Good Luck whatever you are backing and don't forget you can follow me

on Twitter @KnowsOdds where we will have more throughout the day
