We hit a couple of lovely winners last week at 10/3, 15/2 plus an each way shot winning at 14/1! And as usual we have our weekend preview for you with the action this week coming from Cheltenham for trials day plus graded action from Doncaster. We've also got action from Uttoxeter and all weather racing from Lingfield and Kempton, as ever our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action here for you on The Cheeky Punts.
We have a few nice sorts out for Cheltenham although if I'm honest, I am a little underwhelmed by a few of the races. Lets see if we can find some value and we start with my old favourite, the money back race on Skybet and in this one its all the way down to 5th. This surely gives us a good chance of landing a free hit and my money will be going on Farinet. He represents the inform Venetia Williams and was a fairly easy winner at Sandown a few weeks ago and looks to be on the up and was travelling ok when pulling up here in December (having lost a shoe). I'm hoping he can make amends in this one and go close for us at around 11/2
I was a little torn on the 1.20pm but I have plumped for the Jonjo runner When You're Ready. Oscar Elite ranks the main danger and it was hard to split them in this competitive looking affair but our charge just gets the nod. At 7/2 its not the greatest price for a tricky looking race but I do think he will go close, I may even do a small cover with a rfc on the pair.
I also like one in the last and I'm going for that winning combo of Hughes and McCann with Nell's Bells. She looked impressive when winning at Carlisle by a wide margin and I'm hoping we see a repeat of that type of performance here, she looks to have a solid chance with Nos Na Gaoithe for Willie Mullins looking a potential danger. At a bigger price Mullenberg looks a useful sort for the bang in form Milton Harris and could be a good each way shot at around 17/2
We do have a number of shorties for the day and I do like the look of them so a bit of a muggy acca on Pied Piper, Chantry House and Champ pays about 9/2. Chuck in Hillcrest, who is fav for the 3.40 (and you can see more on that race here) and that is a good looking 12/1 fourfold.
We also have a bet boost on William with Chantry House & Champ plus Third Time Lucki at Doncaster priced at 5/1, well worth a cheeky punt in my view
For those who don't like the short priced faves, in the 12.45pm I do like Forever William at 14/1 as a nice each way play. This Alan King trained 4YO was actually 3rd in a grade 1 behind the impressive Porticello and can potentially outrun his odds here again to land place money and maybe even give the even money fav a run for his money
Over to Doncaster next and another each way shot in the 12.25pm where we have 6 places on offer on Skybet. He has been off since September and had some good wins over the summer so may need the run here but at 12/1 with the extra places on offer, I think he's worth a small each way play
In the 2.45pm one I do like the look of Mahler Mission, he was well backed last time when winning over hurdles at the 3rd try, and did win a touch cosily. He may not have it all his own way in this one but I do think he is more than capable of following up on that win and being there or thereabouts in this one
In the 3.20pm we've a good looking contest and again we have 6 places on offer so I actually have a couple for this one. Debece has been off for nearly a year but one thing trainer Dan Skelton can do is get a horse ready to fire after a lengthy break! The old boy could go close and looks a solid each way shot at around 7/1
The other I do like in this is a horse I tipped up previously, Midnight Shadow. He won the Paddy Power Gold Cup back in November and then had a solid 3rd LTO and he looks a really tough horse who should he looks the sort who could enjoy this step up to 2m7f. At 11/1 he's another who looks a good each way chance
Down to Uttoxeter and just a couple of picks, first up a big priced runner at 33/1 in the 1.13pm. Mothill. He does look well held on his debut run at Wincanton but he was a fairly useful flat runner in France so could be worth a small each way punt.
In the 2.22pm its the ITV7 race and I like Wicked West in this tricky looking race, he looks like he may be on a fair mark having placed in his last 2 runs. He was 2nd LTO and the 3rd that day has since gone in at Exeter so this looks a good opportunity for him to get that win to his name
Lingfield (all weather)
Off to the all weather and Lingfield is the afternoon meeting so I've a few fancies for the day with Sparka in the 2.02pm and Essencial in the 3.48pm. My actual pick of the day though is Water of Leith in the 4.23pm who went in to my tracker after finishing 2nd LTO at Wolverhampton. I think he was a touch unlucky but took 2nd from a pretty poor position and was my eye catcher from that race. In that kind of form here I'm all over the 5/2
Good Luck whatever you are backing and don't forget you can follow #Oddsknows on Twitter @KnowsOdds for tips throughout the week and to keep up to date with all the action from @TheCheekyPunts
