As usual we have our weekend preview with the action this week coming from Goodwood and Newmarket with a supporting card at Beverley. Cartmel brings us the usual bank holiday jumps action and we have a coupe of evening meetings coming from Windsor and Redcar
Our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action from Goodwood and Newmarket today here for you on The Cheeky Punts plus don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well as the latest across all our racing pages
We start as ever with our favourite, the Skybet money back race and this week its the opener at Goodwood where we have the 2 year olds and, unsurprisingly, its a Godolphin runner that heads the market. Fairy Cross is probably clear on the ratings based on her 3 runs so far but I am going to take a bit of a punt on Bright Diamond who absolutely bolted up on her debut at Newmarket winning by 9L. That was an impressive performance but it was on good to firm that day so there is a slight question mark on will she handle todays slower going but she could have more to come if she does. 4/1 looks a fair price to take on the fav here
Sticking with Goodwood and in the celebration mile at 3.35pm I think its worth taking a risk on Finest Sound who is in up in grade but has been pretty consistent this year. Mutasaabeq has obvious claims, which is reflected in the short price, and Escobar ran well at York when 2nd in a big field handicap but I do like the look of our charge with the very talented Andrea Atzeni onboard. The Crisford yard has been in red hot form of late with a 41% win rate over the last 2 weeks (they also run Jadoomi here with the champ Will Buick onboard) so I'm willing to take a cheeky punt at around 6/1 here
In the 4.10pm its another for the youngsters and again I'm going to take a bit of punt here with Lunarscape. Buick rides this 2YO for the Eve Johnson Houghton team and despite coming 7th of 11 on her only run to date, a drop back to 6f looks like it should suit and the booking of Buick for this suggests the team expect a big run (he takes over the ride from Saffie Osbourne)
In the last of the day at Goodwood I'm going with Aggagio who has won twice here and should have any issues with the going. Rhys Clutterbuck takes off 3lb and a return to a track he's 2 from 2 on this season, both on softer ground, bodes well for the Gary Moore trained 4YO.
Off to Newmarket next and in the opener I think Charyn can take this one under a penalty for his win on his debut. He holds some solid entries and trainer Roger Varian can keep him progressing here with another win.
Another 2YO affair next with the 2.45pm and its a tentative vote to another Eve Johnson Houghton horse in Boy Browning. He won comfortably LTO on only his 2nd start but he was a short price that day. It was still a good win tho going clear although the form is hard to judge based solely on that run. With extra places on offer if you can get 5/1 or above, then an each way play may be a smart one here.
And finally from me its the 3.50pm where I'm hoping the softer ground can play in to the hands of Liverpool Knight. He should stay this 1m6f trip and actually missed Sandown last week, possibly as connections though it may still be a bit too quick. Hopefully todays the day and we can see a big run from him
