#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 24th Sep

Updated: Sep 24, 2022

As usual we have our weekend preview with action this week coming from Newmarket, Haydock, Chester and Ripon. We've jumps action from Market Rasen and the evening meeting is on the all weather at Chelmsford

Our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action from Goodwood and Newmarket today here for you on The Cheeky Punts plus don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well as the latest across all our racing pages

We start with the Skybet money back race which is the 2.05pm at Haydock and for this one I'm going with the red hot Roger Varian who saddles up Akhu Najla. He's had a bit of a break but looks a potentially quite handy 3YO and the ground today shouldn't be an issue (officially good to soft up at Haydock). At a bigger price, Young Fire is on a long losing run but could go well here and could be a speculative each way punt

Over to Newmarket next and in the Middle Park at 3pm we have a really good looking race but Persian Force has been knocking on the door a few times now and hasn't been out of the top 2 in his 6 races to date although LTO that was behind Blackbeard who goes again here. So our charge has a bit to find and needs a touch of luck but I think he looks the value bet

Later in the day in the 4.50pm one that catches the eye is Mystic Pearl who has improved with each run cumulating in a win LTO at Thirsk. She could still be well treated coming in to this one and I think she's worth a punt at around 5/1

The big handicap of the day at Newmarket is the Cambridgeshire with 28 going to post for this 1m1f charge. Skybet are going 8 places on this one so the smart play here is the each ways and I've picked out a few I think could go well. Injazati has been well fancied in a few places and drops back in trip here which looks like it should suit and it does look like he should be well placed coming from stall 18.

Another I like is Electrical Storm from the Godolphin yard and he has won over this trip before being a touch disappointing LTO at Haydock when only finishing 3rd (despite going off 13/8 fav for that one). This 9F should suit and he can be bang up there with a bit of luck.

And at a bigger price Ouzo could outrun big odds and be in with place chances coming from a nice high draw, on the assumption that is where the pace and race is going to go.

Back to Haydock and my NAP here for the day is Razeyna in the 3.15pm. This Haggas 3YO looks a progressive type and can go well here against some of her old rivals. She was left with a bit too much to do LTO at Ascot but can bounce back here with Stevie Donohoe back in the saddle for this one.

The NB is in the 3.50pm where Salt Bay looks a very interesting newcomer and has a Derby entry for next year. He has a very short priced fav to contend with here in Onslow Gardens so it looks a difficult debut but 4/1 looks worth a cheeky punt.

And my IWAC here is in the opener at 1.30pm with Balmaha. She's by Dark Angel and should appreciate the ground with a bit of give in it so I think she could go close and has a good each way chance with the extra place on offer with Skybet

Away from the big 2 my best of the rest are

NAP - Kyeema (2.50pm Chester)

Has a very good claimer onboard (Adam Farragher claiming 5lb) and was impressive when winning at York last month. Should be bang up there

NB - Call my Bluff (3.25pm Chester)

Looked to be coming back to form a little last Saturday and has conditions and course experience in his favour today

IWAC - Amerrone (2.00pm Ripon)

Newcomer who has been well backed for the Grant Tuer yard. May need the run but has a decent low draw and looks a good each way chance

Good Luck whatever you are backing and don't forget you can follow me
