#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 19th Mar

Updated: Mar 19, 2022

It's been a busy week for team Cheeky Punts as we have been down in Cheltenham for the week so it is a little reduced for Saturday and we will back next week with our full set. There's no #OddsKnows NAP but our man picks out a few for the day for you here Pick of the day

First up its my pick of the day at what looks a very nice price in the 2.40pm at Kempton in the shape of Jay Jay Reilly. The Skeltons were maybe a touch unlucky through the festival during the week but I think they could make some amends for that today with this consistent 6YO. He has been hit with a fairly hefty penalty after a relative easy win last time out at Doncaster but I think he can go close again today

The money back race

Over at Uttoxeter its the Midlands Grand National day, and more on that shortly, but in the 1.50pm Skybet bring us the money back race so I'm going to take a bit of a punt on Illegal Model who comes back from wind surgery and has the blinkers on today. This could have the desired effect with young Lilly Pinchin onboard claiming 5. Of the rest the relatively unexposed Pulling Stumps could have a bit more to come and looks good value as well at around 5/1

The Midlands Grand National

The big race of the day at Uttoxeter is the Midlands Grand National over the mammoth 4m2f in what could be a real stamina sapping test. Skybet, plus others, go with quite a few extra places on this so there could be some each way value to be had but at the top of the market Time To Get Up won this last year. There could be even more to come from him but no horse has won this race twice so it looks a big ask. Another runner from last year was Achille who finished 6th but he has been knocking on the door of a few of these big staying races and is starting to slip down the weights. Hugh Nugent takes off 3 so now on a very attractive looking low weight, he looks a decent each way shot at around 12/1

And for one at a big price Gwencily Berbas is another down the bottom of the weights and he has landed a few places and actually won at Exeter back in December over 3m6f. This looks a lot tougher that any of those and the drying ground would certainly help as his better runs seem to have come on more good to soft but at a big price with those extra places he could well squeeze in for some place money here

Best of the Rest

Back to Kempton as I like the look of Rockstar Ronnie in the 2.05pm, again for the Skeltons with Bridget Andrews onboard. He is looking for a Kempton 3-timer and despite a bit of a break, the conditions today look more in his favour. It is a competitive looking race but the 11/4 on offer here looks worth a cheeky punt for me.

At Uttoxeter in the 2.25pm and Saint Palais was well beaten last time out by Ahoy Senor but there was no disgrace in that and his previous form looks solid. Harry Bannister takes the mount today having won onboard him a couple of times already so I think he can go very close again here today

And last up just the one from Newcastle for today and I'm going for Curramore here. He generally goes well fresh and has been seen since November although the current form of trainer Sandy Thomson is a little concerning. He has failed to fire when well fancied a couple of times but the forecast good going today up at Newcastle should suit our charge and at around 5/1 he looks well worth a shot There is racing today too from Fontwell and we have all weather action from Wolverhampton for those looking for the races for the post Cheltenham blues and we will be back next weekend with all our usual features. We just need to recover from a heavy week at the Festival but I hope you have all had a good week and we can round it off in style with a few winners again today

Good Luck whatever you are backing and don't forget you can follow
