#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 15th Oct

Updated: Oct 15, 2022

As usual we have our weekend preview with action this week coming from Ascot with Champions Day. We also have flat action at Catterick plus the jumps cards coming from Market Rasen & Newton Abbott. Wolverhampton rounds off the day with the all weather action under the lights for the evening meet

Our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action today here for you on The Cheeky Punts plus don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well as the latest across all our racing pages

As ever we start with the money back race on Skybet and whilst Trueshan is the fave here and looks to take all the beating, the value bet may be in St Leger winning Eldar Eldarov. He looked a class act that day and has previous at Ascot having won here in the summer, he's shaped like the step up to 2m should suit and we could have a new staying superstar on our hands here

Sticking with Ascot and there are some crackers for the day including the 2pm Champions Spirnt. There's a lot to like in here including a horse I've followed a lot in Rohaan and the Godolphin team can never be ruled out (they saddle Creative Force) in these big races. But the one I am siding with is Perfect Power. he's gone off the boil a bit of late but the 3 YO is a tripple G1 winner already, including his last win which came at Ascot of C&D. I'm hoping a return here will bring back some of that sparkle and we could get a big run at a nice price if it does

The Fillies and Mares are up next and another really hot looking contest. This is a really tough one to call with a case to be made for all the market principles but the one I've landed on is Mimikyu, the possible "2nd string" for the Gosdens. Frankie has chosen to partner Emily Upjohn as John & Thady have a strong hand in this one but our charge has the very talented Rob Havlin onboard and can certainly be in the mix. I think our girl here should really handle todays softer ground and at around 6/1 for 5 places on offer it could be a nice each way bet to nothing

Over to Stratford next as we start to focus a bit more on the NH season ahead and one that has a good run only last moth was Punxsutawney Phil. This boy was quite highly thought of at one point and has had some success already, including at Stratford where he has a pretty good record so he looks setup for this today.

In the next at 2.49pm I also like Lucky Boy Lover who has won 3 of his last 4. This looks a pretty weak race on paper so I think he could well go in again here

And over at Market Rasen it's just the one each way punt as champ Brian Hughes is onboard the Donald McCain trianed Gaelik Coast. This trainer/jockey combination has been a very successful one and you won't find many chances to get this pair at double digit odds!
