#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 15th Jan
Updated: Jan 15, 2022
As usual we have our weekend preview for you with the action from Warwick, Kempton and Wetherby. We also have the all weather action from Kempton and Chelmsford and as ever our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action here for you on The Cheeky Punts.
Don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well
First up we have the money back race at Kempton but we only have the cash back for 2nd (which is a bit shit!). The one I am going for here though is Kap Auteuil. He had a poor run at Cheltenham but his form excluding that reads 5 wins from 5 and he has proved himself game in a few of those. In a competitive looking race that form looks worth siding with and at 4/1 I think we'll get a good run from him under young Harry Bannister

Sticking with Kempton and the 2.40pm is a big 20 runner affair so the smart play here is the each way one and most bookies will be going extra places on this one. Hills go 6 places and Skybet got 7 (but dont have bet odds) so there could be some value in this one. My pick here is going to be the Paul Nicholls horse Gelino Bello. He had a few 2nds at Cheltenham, behind the very talented Blazing Khal on both occasions, following a win at Aintree so I think he has to be respected in this one and 8/1 is a good price. At a much bigger price for the value hunters, Commanche Red could be worth a small punt at around 40/1
In the last of the day at Kempton Earth Company is seeking a hat-trick but I am going to take him on here with the Moore's runner Royaume Uni. He was 3rd last time out at Cheltenham back in December but this looks less competitive and I think our charge looks the better value of the two at 7/2

Over at Warwick and its an old favourite of mine with the Skelton horse Riggs although the big danger does look to Alaphilippe. Our charge should handle the conditions and this could be a case of who stays best. Riggs hasn't won for a while but he had a good 2nd over this trip last time out at Haydock and Alaphilippe may want/need a bit more rain, if it gets too heavy then I'd be tempted to side with him over our charge so keep a check on the conditions for the day. Alternatively a reverse forecast could be a smart cover bet
And in the last I am taking a punt on the Olly Murphy trained Fairly famous as we have the newcomers going to post. Our charge is out of Fame & Glory and is a half brother to a useful winner in Luttrell Lad so the newcomer could go well here. Murphy usually does well in this kind of race so he could be worth siding with although 5/2 shows there is already a bit of support for him and he's fancied to go well by the bookies too
Off to Wetherby next and I've got 3 picks to go at. Release the Kraken has an interesting jockey booking with the champ Brian Hughes onboard and he could be on a handy mark. He steps up to 3m but there's been enough to suggest that should suit providing he can put his fall behind him from his last run.
In the 2.47pm we've a pretty open looking race with a number in with a chance here but the one I like here is Solo Saxophone. He has won a number of times on the flat and proved a decent stayer and he has looked reasonably comfortable over the timber without winning. Off todays mark he should have a good chance to break that duck and get his head in front

And last up at Wetherby I am going with Hughes again who teams up again with trainer Donald McCain in what is usually a really successful combination. He placed in a both starts over in Ireland in the point to points and should certainly stay based on the breeding.
I've also had a look for a few bigger prices for the day and one I am pretty keen on is Minella Encore in the 3pm at Warwick. We should be able to get some extra places on offer again for this one and I think he looks a touch overpriced (currently 14s with Hills at time of writing). Notachance at 12/1 could also be in with a chance for trainer Alan King although he has pulled up in 3 of his last 4, he did win this last year though so could go close again off the same mark for this one.
And at Kempton a bit of a star at the end of the year Strictlyadancer landed a hattrick before pulling up last time out at Sandown when well off the pace. If he can show some of that form from earlier runs he could have a chance in this one with 4 places on offer with Skybet. 7/1 isn't great each way value but I think its worth a cheeky punt

Last weekend the all weather got us out of jail a bit with a few nice winners so I have a few again as we have action from Lingfield and then the evening meet from Cheltenham. Kicking us off its a bit of a shorty but in the 1.45pm Intuitive looks the one to beat and has pretty good numbers on the all weather including 2 wins from 4 here at Lingfield last year. 2/1 is a bit short but he will possibly go off even shorter.
The 2.20pm looks a bit more competitive but Marks Bear hasn't been out of the top 2 on the all weather so looks worth another chance here. He was behind Muscika last time out who has struggled for form a bit of late. Our charge has young Aidean Keeley onboard who claims what could be a valuable 7lbs so he should be bang up there

Rose Hip runs in the 5.45pm at Chelmsford as we look to the evening under the lights and I am a fan of Mollie Phillips who takes the ride for this one and the pair are 2 wins from 2 here at Lingfield so I expect another big showing. And in the 6.15 Agent of Fortune has been running well of late with a win (at Lingfield) followed by a 2nd at Kempton when favourite. You could potentially make an excuse for that loss having raced a touch wide and leaving himself open to the late challenge, a better run race here could play in to his favour though to get back to winning ways
And finally just a couple of bigger prices to have a punt at, Rainbow Mirage at Lingfield and Lethal Touch down at Chelmsford. I'll be having a bit of an each way double on the pair but keeping it to small stakes as both have a lot to do on the face of it. Laura Pearson claims 3 on Rainbow Mirage so could go close and Lethal Touch was supported last time so needs to show some of that potential in this one
