#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 13th Aug

Updated: Aug 13, 2022

As usual we have our weekend preview with the action this week coming from Newbury, Newmarket, Ripon and Doncaster plus a summer jumps card up at Perth. The evening meetings come from Market Rasen over the jumps and Wolverhampton on the all weather under the Saturday night light

Our man #OddsKnows takes a look at the best of all the action for day here for you on The Cheeky Punts plus don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well as all the latest across all our racing pages today

There are a lot of meetings and races today but I'm actually pretty underwhelmed with them and its actually looking a quite poor Saturday. This does nothing to quieten the noises around too much racing and with some criminally small fields, it also makes the betting prospects quite weak too (a lot of races are 7 runners or less!)

So first up I'm going to go with our usual for the Skybet money back race and this does look quite open but Definite is proven at 1m2f whilst a few others step up here. The Ralph Beckett yard is going well of late and I think he can go well here with Hector Crouch doing the steering for us

Sticking with Newbury I have a couple of runners which both come from Richard Hannon and in the 3pm Gisburn has been drifting a bit in the market but I do still like his chances here. He's won here at Newbury before and the trainer himself has said this looks a very suitable race so I'm will to stick with him

At 3.35pm we have the Group 2 Hungerford Stakes and Chindit is a bit of a favourite of mine so I think he can give another big run for us here. He's been far from disgraced running in some hot races and with that clear turn of foot, dropping back to the 7f here shouldn't be a problem. Dubai Poet looks a big danger too and could be worth an each way play at around 8/1 too

And my last selection here comes in the Great St Wilfrid which is also the Dandinap race today as well. It's another wide open looking affair and you make a case for many of these but a high draw may prove to be beneficial and Misty Grey is drawn 15 of 15! I think he should be up there and looks a good each way chance. My other pick for this is Summerghand who is usually in the frame in these big handicaps and could go well again here having slid down the weights a bit to what may be a dangerous looking mark.

Good Luck whatever you are backing and don't forget you can follow me

on Twitter @KnowsOdds where we will have more throughout the day

plus a few for the evening meetings as well.
