#OddsKnows Racing Preview: 12th Feb

Updated: Feb 12, 2022

As usual we have our weekend preview for you with the action this week coming from Newbury, Warwick and Uttoxeter. We've also got all weather racing from Lingfield and the evening meet under the lights comes from Wolverhampton. Our man #OddsKnows once again takes a look at the best of all the action here for you on The Cheeky Punts.

Don't forget to check out the #OddsKnows Nap which you can find here as well (from 9am Saturday) as well as all the latest from our days picks on our racing pages

Newbury

The 1.50pm looks like quite a competitive affair but the one I am drawn to in this one is The Brimming Water who landed a 2m5f contest at Wetherby on boxing day beating Unexpected Party who has subsequently gone on to win (at Ascot). That looks some handy form and he was a respectable 3rd over 3m last time out. At around 4/1 I think this looks decent value.

The Grade 2 at 3pm looks wide open with little to split the head of the market but I am siding with Funambule Sivola for the in-form Venetia Williams. Hitman looks a danger at the weights but the poor form of the Nicholls runners of late is a little off putting and despite Sceau Royal having a good record in this race, he was poor when seen last time at Cheltenham. He could bounce back but we could also be starting to see a bit of a decline in this 10YO. Our charge at 7YO looks to be going the right way and can take this one in my view

The Betfair Hurdle at 3.35pm looks a bit more open but I really like the current favourite for this in Broomfield Burg. He's looked a pretty promising prospect and has a couple of Cheltenham entries so the JP owned, Henderson trained comes in to this look a worthy favourite. 7/2 is a little short with 14 due to go to post but I think he will be bang up there

And in the last at Newbury at 4.45pm we have a nice looking sort going over the flat with Authorised Speed who looks pretty strong when winning last tine out at Newbury and finished 2nd at Ascot prior to that with Top Dog and Dusky Days behind in 3rd & 4th. Dusky days could be a nice each way shot here though at 14/1 but I'll take our charge at around 11/4 for the win

Warwick

Down at Warwick and a horse that has come in for plenty of support is Falco Blitz in the 3.15pm. Aidan Coleman takes the mount for trainer Nicky Henderson and whilst he has gone up 3lb for a win last time out at Kempton, he looks to have a fair chance of following up here. At 6/1 he looks a fair price although this does look competitive so I wouldn't be put off by a couple of the others here as well. Definitely a tough one to call this

In the 3.50pm I am also going for one as more of an each way shot with Happy Hollow. He pulled up last time but I am willing to put a line through that and judge him on two solid seconds prior to that. The 2 favourite look the obvious dangers but at 7/1 I'm willing to take a punt on him even with just the 2 places on offer

In the last at Warwick its another NH flat race and I am going to take another slight risk on Gaelic Park. As a half brother to Chantry House (plus a handful of other winners) he won on his only start in an Irish Point to Point and whilst he may need the run here, I'm willing to have a cheeky punt at 4/1 that the talent is there on the breeding alone

Uttoxeter At Uttoxeter my first pick is in the 3.43pm and I am actually taking the champ Hughes here who rides Breizh Alko. The one I prefer here is likely to dispute favouritism with him and is Eaton Miller. He finished 2nd on his reappearance after a fairly lenghty break and with that pipe opener in the bank, I think he can go one better here and take this one for trainer Ryan Potter.

For the 4,18pm I am back with my man Hughes as he takes the mount on The Toojumpa for trainer Fergal O'Brien. He has unseated the pilot a couple of times but looked much better when finishing much closer to the winner with a 2nd and 4th. She was Earcomesbob last time but didnt have the best of runs hitting a bit of traffic but finishing strongly. This could be a good chance to get back to the winners enclosure and with the champion onboard, that should have a positive impact

And in the last its another quite open looking race but Mickyh has shown enough on recent runs to suggest he can dictate this from the front, I suspect he will look to make all but if he is given the run of the race I think he has enough to keep the rest behind him. And at 4/1 this looks good value to me for the win

The Each Way plays

With a few extra places on offer for the day there may be a bit of each way value around so I have a few worth considering starting with Wishing and Hoping in the 3.15pm at Warwick. He has a career stat of placing in 50% of his races and as the outsider of the bunch, looks the best value with the extra places despite drifting quite heavily in the market overnight

One that has gone the other way and come in for quite a bit of support is Royaume Uni in the 3.35pm at Newbury. He originally looked the 2nd string for Gary Moore (who also runs Fifty Ball) but the market support suggests he may have a big run in him and with 5 places on offer, he looks well worth a cheeky little punt

Lady Stanhow was pulled out Saturday morning so is now a non runner and can be scratched from the 3.43pm at Uttoxeter

Lingfield (all weather)

On to the all weather and I‘m going with Cherish at 12/1 at a bit of an each way shot in the 2.20pm. She does have a handy draw in stall 2 and with young Mollie Phillips onboar, and an extra place on offer, I’ll take that each way shot

For the 3.30pm Dansemai is a non runner so my only other selection is Reine Du Bal in the last at 4.37pm in the betting without the fav. Andrew Baldings Notre Belle Bete is a short as 1/12 so our charge looks the best of the rest and can chase him home for us

I will also have a few more all weather picks during the day posted on Twitter later for you all

Good Luck whatever you are backing and don't forget you can follow #Oddsknows on Twitter @KnowsOdds for tips throughout the week and to keep up to date with all the action from @TheCheekyPunts
